Editorial Paths
A holistic, manuscript-centered approach for independent authors
I do not approach manuscripts in isolated stages. When I read, I am always seeing structure, language, voice, pacing, and mechanics together. My editing services are therefore structured around depth of intervention, not artificial editorial labels.

Each path reflects how deeply I work within your manuscript, not what I am capable of noticing.
Editorial Assessment
Best for: Early drafts, first novels, or authors seeking clarity before revision.

This is a full read of your manuscript as a complete system.

Includes:

-
A comprehensive editorial letter
-
Big-picture analysis of structure, pacing, voice, and clarity
-
Identification of recurring mechanical or grammatical patterns
-
A prioritized revision roadmap

Important note:
While I may note patterns of grammatical or stylistic concern, this stage does not include in-text edits or sentence-level revision.
Full-Scope Developmental Edit
Best for: Manuscripts that need deep revision, clarity, and narrative coherence.

This is the core of my editorial practice.

Includes:

-
Structural and scene-level feedback
-
Voice consistency and tonal refinement
-
Pacing and narrative flow adjustments
-
Line-level revisions where clarity or meaning is impacted
-
Targeted grammatical correction when it interferes with comprehension

Important boundary:
This is not a comprehensive copyedit. Grammar and mechanics are addressed as they affect meaning, not exhaustively.
Full-Scope Line & Copy Edit
Best for: Manuscripts approaching publication that need polish and consistency.

This is a slow, detailed, sentence-by-sentence edit.

Includes:

-
Grammar, syntax, and punctuation correction
-
Sentence clarity and flow
-
Style and consistency alignment
-
Final language refinement

Assumption:
Structural and narrative decisions have already been made. Substantial rewrites may require a return to Full-Scope Developmental Editing.
How This Process Works
Editing is iterative. Earlier stages may reveal issues addressed more fully in later stages. Each tier reflects the depth of editorial intervention, not the editor’s awareness of other issues.
I do not “ignore” problems at earlier stages — I simply address them at the appropriate level.
Collaboration & Fit
All projects begin with:

-
A brief collaboration survey
-
A short sample edit or assessment (when appropriate)
-
A clear scope agreement before work begins

My goal is to support your vision, not overwrite it.
Turnaround & Timeline
Each project moves at a pace appropriate to its scope, length, and level of intervention.
Most full-manuscript edits are completed over several weeks, with timing shaped by the condition of the draft and the collaborative nature of the process. Specific timelines are discussed and confirmed before work begins.
What I Do Not Offer
To protect the integrity of both the work and the editorial process, I do not offer:
• Proofreading as a standalone service
• Rush timelines
• Extensive rewrites or ghostwriting
Custom or atypical projects are considered on a selective, case-by-case basis.
Pricing Philosophy
My pricing is designed to remain accessible to independent authors while honoring the time, care, and labor required for ethical editing. Fees are discussed on a project-by-project basis and reflect manuscript length, condition, and depth of intervention.

If you are unsure which path your manuscript needs, I will help you determine the best starting point.
Working Together
All editorial services are provided under a written agreement that outlines scope, timeline, and expectations. This ensures clarity, accountability, and mutual respect throughout the collaboration.

If you’re unsure which editorial path is right for your project, I’m happy to help you decide during the quote process.
A Note on Fit
Editing is a collaborative process built on trust, communication, and shared respect for the work.

If you’re looking for an editor who values nuance, cultural context, and language as more than mechanics, you’re likely a good fit here.

If you’re seeking quick fixes, surface corrections, or extensive rewriting, I may not be the right editor for your project—and that’s okay. Finding the right editorial match matters, and I want both of us to feel confident in the process.
