Where It Began
I’m Z, a literary editor, translator, and creative who mainly works with independent authors and literary projects.

I started my journey in the literary world in 2020 as a bookseller with my mobile bookshop, What the Book? Working closely with readers and writers gave me a firsthand look at the independent publishing world—its creativity, experimentation, and challenges. Later, I began making custom bookish objects and tiny book replicas, which you can still find in my online shop.
What I Noticed
During those first years, I built lasting relationships with indie authors. One topic kept coming up in our conversations: the barriers to getting professional editorial support, especially the cost of editing for self-published writers. Many felt they had to choose between quality and affordability.

How I Work
Reading independent literature reminds me of finding music that isn’t mainstream. When you look beyond the usual paths, you discover risk, originality, and voices that don’t always fit industry expectations. These voices deserve care and editors who help strengthen their work without losing what makes them unique.​

Because of this belief, I use my academic background and hands-on publishing experience to offer thorough, open, and collaborative editing. I work across many genres, including fantasy, horror, romance, poetry, and bilingual stories, always paying close attention to voice, structure, and purpose.
Translation
In addition to editing, I also offer literary translation between English and Spanish. When I translate, I focus on meaning, voice, and cultural context instead of just swapping words, so the text feels natural in its new language.
