FAQ
Editorial & Translation Services
How do your editing and translation services work?
All editorial and translation work is handled under contract. Before any project begins, we confirm scope, timeline, and expectations to ensure clarity for both of us. Each project is treated as a collaborative process, not a one-size-fits-all service.
What types of editing do you offer?
I offer structured editorial paths rather than standalone, piecemeal services. These include manuscript assessment, full craft editing, and final polish (for returning clients). Details for each path are outlined on the Editing Services page.
Do you offer proofreading only?
No. Proofreading is not offered as a standalone service. My work focuses on strengthening clarity, voice, and structure rather than surface-level corrections alone.
Do you offer sample edits?
I do not provide one-page or unpaid sample edits. Fit is established through project descriptions, prior work, and—when appropriate—manuscript assessments.
What languages do you translate?
I offer English ↔ Spanish translation for literary and creative work. Translation projects prioritize voice, meaning, and cultural context rather than literal substitution.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on word count, project scope, manuscript condition, and editorial path. Quotes are provided after reviewing your submission details through the appropriate quote form.
What is your turnaround time?
Turnaround time varies depending on manuscript length, complexity, and editorial path. Most projects are completed over several weeks to a few months. You’ll receive a clear timeline before any work begins.
Can I cancel a project after it has started?
Yes. All contracts include a cancellation clause with a minimum notice period. Fees are prorated based on work completed. Please note that once developmental editing has begun, refunds are no longer available. Full terms are outlined in the contract.
Do you work under contract?
Yes. All editing services are provided under contract.
Each agreement outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms so both parties share a clear understanding of the collaboration.
How long does translation take?
Translation timelines depend on length, genre, and complexity. A projected schedule will be provided after reviewing your manuscript and goals.
Are translation services also contracted?
Yes. Translation projects are completed under contract, outlining scope, timeline, and payment details prior to starting work.
